I’ll go first. The system ended up binging a terrible anime called “Plunderer” (Hulu). Too much fan service, female characters who suffer from poor writing, etc... the works. However, the concept itself is interesting and the twist to it isn’t something we’ve seen before. The power system is also interesting and is something I’m already thinking about as far as self inserts go.
Shep has a love/ hate relationship with “Seven Deadly Sins” and “Bleach”.
I feel no guilt, I wholeheartedly embrace everything bad about Cute High Earth Defense Club and I've seen every episode multiple times. It's a parody of magical girl shows where the only joke is that the main characters are guys who really don't wanna be a part of this, but like, the show has a heart of gold. It's never mean - it's clearly made with love of the genre. Also the season finale is always ridiculously overdramatic and I live for it. It's gourmet trash<33

It's been a long time since we watched it, but we remember enjoying Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku. Almost all of the characters are underdeveloped, but the insanity was fun to see.

If you are a devil, stand up. If you are a villain, a madman, a beast; if you a strowler, a prowler, a priest; if you are a dragon come sit at our feast: for we all have stripes, and we all have horns. We all have scales, tails, manes, claws, and thorns. And here in the dark is where new worlds are born.

My top favourite anime is Outlaw Star and imo it holds up for the most part, but there is one "hot springs planet" episode that adds nothing to the plot or characters, and also there is I think 1 canon gay character in it who is very much depicted as a gross and predatory person, so much so that the main character leans into homophobia in response
ripley's believe it or not made me who i am today ------ oh no a full moon!!! get away before i transform into a horrible monster that just wants treats and tummy rubs!!!

I watched Hellsing in middle school and loved it. I now realize there is... so much going on with it. For me it's one of those things that's so ridiculous it manages to cycle back to being good
I watched S1 of Valvrave the Liberator about 3 years ago. It's terrible and has a lot of really bad/problematic elements to it. But the OP was really good and despite hating it I watched the whole first season, so......

Seconding, obviously. If you like pure 80s cheesiness, you can’t go wrong with classic StS. The Lost Canvas is really good, but the anime’s discontinued and if you want to read it in English, there’s no official translation. We suffer.

Anime I both love and hate? I had to run through a few but I don't generally feel shame for liking such things. But in terms of shows I cringe at just as much I enjoy. I'd have to say high-school of the dead It's a good show. Or could be one. If it were for the notoriously horrific fanservice that is just as bad as everyone can say. And as someone who is very close to being completely aroace, I can barely stand to watch it at those points
Mediocre anime is absolutely my guilty pleasure. I really wish I had the time and attention span to watch more.
I'm super obsessed with Onmyouji right now thanks to a Fate/GO character hyperfixation and I've been eating through everything I can get my hands on. Last thing I watched was Shounen Onmyouji. It was...cute? I mean, I wouldn't say it was great, very clearly qualifies for "fujobait," but it was something to put on in the background for a while that was tied to my interests. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. (Seriously, send me recs of anything with Onmyouji in it. I'll love you forvever.)
Weird and/or vintage anime is SO my taste! If we're talking anime that's usually considered Not Good... Definitely Ghost Stories. But specifically the English Dub. The anime was so bad the dubbing crew got permission to basically dub it however they wanted so long as they retained the story of the episodes. It's comedy gold! Also Dragonball GT is usually regarded as awful and is usually bashed by most DB fans but I love it. I've recently started watching Chargeman Ken. It's gotten a So-bad-it's-good cult status.
If we're talking things I hate that I love, the "Unicron Trilogy" from the Transformers franchise. 3 loosely related Anime series known as Armada, Energon, and Cybertron here in the states. The animation is bad, the dub is bad. It's just overall terrible but it's kinda nostalgic for me and the toylines have a certain charm to them.
Oh, I have to second the English dub of Ghost Stories. My friend and I binged it last year, and while it has definitely aged (all the slurs, jfc...) it's still hilarious

Yeah,,,same on Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler. It's really the only manga I keep up with, I tend to only watch/read complete series otherwise. It's got some fanservice and I tend to avoid the fandom in general, but I appreciate the character relationships as they are in canon, with all their chess games and scheming. Granted, I'm rooting for a "bad ending" because I want Sebastian to win, but he's the closest demon version to myself in media I've seen so there's that.
