It's basically all I've been playing the last month actually haha. I started with 4U on the 3DS but this is the first one I've actually played all the way through (once I finish up what I wanna do in Rise, I'll probably go back and try and finish that and Generations). I used Dual Blades in 4U and I'm currently maining Long Sword in Rise but I also wanna give Light Bowgun, Bow and Hunting Horn a try. For favourite monsters, that's a toughie but Najarala's been a fave since I first encountered it in 4U, so probably that; I love me some good snake monsters. It's cool to see other MonHun fans here!

Writing, macrame, and baking. Such as the birthday cake I made for myself (and to share) a couple of months ago: That is a "Chocolate Espresso Dacquoise" which means that there are no 'cake' layers. The layers are made from baked meringue, which is then covered with chocolate ganache and buttercream frosting. The chocolate on the outside is also the ganache, just heated enough to pour over the exterior. It took me about two days to make this cake, but it was worth the time and effort :~)

Oh! I forgot to mention in my previous posts that I watch kind of A Lot of bad movies. My wife and I have a podcast where we talk about movies we watch on the free app Tubi, many of which are B movies or lower. It's pretty fun and it's often an exercise in finding things to enjoy even in things that aren't "good" Gryneos that cake seems incredible!! That's so cool, meringues can be Tough to execute and this looks like a resounding success

That's so cool, meringues can be Tough to execute and this looks like a resounding success I was in the process of setting up a baking/pastry gallery when our power went off around midnight here (it's back on again, but am tired now). I'll do that tomorrow and you'll get to see more of my creations. I do have some background in pastry and baking, even professional experience, but I didn't go into that field (mostly because of the low-pay). My only problem with the meringue was that I didn't do the baking on the parchment paper correctly, so the layer curled a little in the oven. Next time I'll make it work right. That was also the first time I made that recipe, though I have made that kind of cake before, thirty years prior, and it was round, not rectangular. Tubi is a fun channel, though I haven't watched it much lately. I'm fairly new to streaming (have only had my roku 6 months) so I'm still exploring all of the free options out there, as well as taking advantage of my Prime subscription. So much to watch, so little time... ;~)

I collect a few different things! Crystals, MLP dolls (Mainly G1 & G3 though my collection is very small), LPS G2 (A.k.a. The best gen >.>), and plushies/art dolls in general. It’s a bit childish but they make me happy lol I do art (mainly digital) but my favorite thing to do is design characters. I’m not very good at it but it’s fun making reference sheets and backstories. I play video games as well, mainly Nintendo but I play all sorts of games. And I also cosplay! I don’t have the money yet but I plan on doing some fursuiting in the future as well!

I collect crystals, it's kind of like a weird hoard. I just think they're neat. I also collect stuff related to my fictotype source, primarily building models of various machines that appear in it! I also like to build and paint miniatures for tabletop RPGs and tabletop wargames (and play those games too). And I like to study different languages, although I haven't been super successful in learning one to any sort of useful capacity.

That is incredible!! Also really delighted to see some other baking / cooking folks. That’s a hobby I have that honestly almost mystifies me, because I actively hated it for so long. I guess I owe my best friend a lot for pressuring me to get into it. He’s a really accomplished home cook, I think, and now it’s something we enjoy together. I have liked baking for a long time, but only got into cooking the last few years. I recently got some proper Bannetons to proof my sourdough in as well as a whetstone so my knives can be good and sharp. And I made a pan of butter mochi and drove it across two states to surprise my twin sister, haha. I feel like most of my hobbies are things I sort of dabble in without diving in entirely. The ones I am most passionate about are probably outdoorsy things like hiking and art things - digital painting and various crafting and costuming, mostly. I am almost compelled to try out different creative pursuits. I learned Tunisian crochet this winter, taught myself to weave willow and pine-needle baskets, and am now carving avocado pits into pendants. I also do a few more esoteric hobbies, like bone collecting and cleaning (sometimes I have some for sale, including bone jewelry!) and vermiculture. I got a good paper shredder a while back so I can even shred cardboard for my worm bin. This year I’m hoping to find a really good trout fishing stream and use some of my worms for live bait. If it’s a good camping spot too, and I can get more use out of my good camp equipment, all the better... Basically, I’m compulsively outdoorsy and creatively inclined, so any pursuits of that nature are going to interest me, and I seem to crave those things the most. But I also still sometimes play video games, I read a lot, I cook and bake, and I run and strength train.

But I also still sometimes play video games, I read a lot, I cook and bake, and I run and strength train. Well, here's my take on baking and why many self-described cooks hate it: it requires that you follow a recipe. I have written on my blog in the past that no matter how you look at it, every meal or culinary creation is made with a recipe. Immediately, those who cook meals by 'instinct' or 'feel' will balk. But, look at what a recipe is at all. It is a set of instructions. If you want to make that one meal the same way twice, even with tweaks to the spicing, you are following a recipe. You have to prep the ingredients a certain way, cook them in any of the well-established methods of heating (or cooling), assemble the parts and plate it for eating. If you wish to share the steps for making that meal with someone, you write it down, and it is suddenly a recipe. Recreating it in any way makes it a recipe. Truly, just doing it at all is the process of making a recipe. Because even if you are making something new, you are still following established methods and steps to making it. However, the other reason many cooks hate baking is that you cannot be as loose with the steps as you can with cooking. The chemistry of baking is stricter than most cooking. At the same time, there are plenty of things in cooking which require strict adherence to specific steps and ingredients. Making a sauce (gravy) is like that. Cook things too quickly and you break it. Sometimes you can recover it, but if it's egg-based and it breaks/curdles, you have to throw it out. This is also why bakers have to be good cooks. We use things like pastry creams which is a custard based on heating eggs with hot milk. Heat it too fast and you curdle the eggs and have to toss them out. Don't heat them enough, and the enzymes in the eggs consume necessary starches for the setting process and it never sets up, and you have to throw it out, or use it in something else. The best chefs out there know all of this and are not intimidated by baking and pastry work. In fact, they usually embrace those arts because they are a challenge, and they want to expand their capabilities as much as possible. That also makes them better at running a big kitchen because they know everything being done by all of the cooks in their kitchen and can help when necessary. But mostly it's about managing the whole workforce without major issues. They "run a tight ship" when they understand every single task being performed in their kitchens :~) The challenge aspect is also why I want to get into candy-making. I haven't done that since my pastry classes almost thirty years ago, and I never used those skills at any of the kitchens or one bakery where I have worked. My desire to learn that art is partly to know it, but also to put more variety into my Xmas gift-giving and cut back on the amount of biscotti I usually make for family and friends. I'll still make the Orange-Almond recipe because that seems to be the absolute favorite of everyone who has ever tasted it. I also do not dip my biscotti in chocolate because that's an added mess and is unnecessary. If people want that chocolate flavor, they can dunk the biscotti in a mocha drink (-:

I interestingly used to be reverse - liked baking, didn’t really want to cook. Partially it’s because I WANTED that strict scientific recipe - though I’m a creative sort in general, the idea of having to tweak things in the kitchen rather than know exactly what to do kind of stressed me out.
I also used to joke that what I liked about food was eating it, and I didn’t want to make a chore out of the preparation - I just wanted to sit down and eat! But baking was something I was primarily doing for treats rather than meals, so it was easier for me to go through the process.
Two things convinced me to take up cooking more seriously - the first was the pressure from the aforementioned friend. The second was my intense motivation to become healthier after grad school (I had gotten out of shape and was lazy in basically all of my habits). I was curious about healthier cooking techniques and healthy substitutions in recipes. So I still do a lot of health-oriented cooking and get a lot of use from my vegetable spiralizer and such.
Oh yes, Christmas gifts are also a major motivation for making candy and treats. I do little gift baskets of Oreo truffles, peanut butter buckeyes, toffee, mint patties, and cookies and such pretty often. I’ve made caramels and millionaire’s shortbread and such too.
My major motivations these days are trying out weird and interesting foods (I have no squeamish factor, so balut and Surströmming have been on the menu, as well as insects and the like), learning to make various ethnic cuisine, trying out challenging dishes, and continuing to investigate healthy cooking!

Video games, writing, and drawing are all hobbies I really like! Reading in theory too, but I don't seem to do much of it for some reason. I also want to get into reptile keeping! There's many species I want to keep, and I'm always reading up on them! (And even though they're not reptiles... There's a few amphibians and invertabre I've had my eye on. Basically, under rated animals rule lmao)

I enjoy video games and reading. I would love to have a pet snake but my mum hates them, so I have an axolotl instead.

My hobby is collecting almost everything, and it comes even in video games. I often find something that I like and end up collecting it. It's kinda hard, so that's why i collect things in pictures or games - i just don't have money on material things. Also i love to draw, but that's all.

That's cool, and I certainly don't always want to cook, either, as it is sometimes a chore, especially prep. Plus, I often have to do a fair amount of prep just to do any juicing (which I need to do today sometime, too). You might have a look at the King Arthur Flour site as they have some excellent recipes for all kinds of baked goods. I plan on making one of my favorites from there, No-Fuss Focaccia. I can make a pan of that, start to finish, in two hours. I would say that anyone could do it in that short of time because it is that easy. You just do need some kind of stand mixer as you would for most bread recipes. This one also doesn't so much make a 'dough' as it does a very thick batter, or like a combination of both terms. If you make it, you'll see. I don't know what the two dishes are you mentioned at the end, but would guess they are meat-based. I haven't purposely looked at any kind of meat-based dishes in twenty-one years due to having gone vegetarian on January 1st, 2000. Although I was still married at the time and I was the one who did the grocery shopping. She never went vegetarian, so she did have to put up with me sometimes getting the wrong cuts because I never paid attention to that kind of thing even when I did eat meat
