•I’m pretty sure everyone here knows what Pokémon is, and maybe 40% here actively do something related to Pokémon (trading cards, games, roleplay, watch the anime)..... I am curious, what would your Pokémon team be? Bonus, how would you use your team in battle, in the anime, game, or otherwise?.... <•> •Silcoon is my favorite Pokémon because it is precious, beautiful, amazing, round, and did I mention beautiful and precious? If anyone hurt Silcoon I would probably wake up upon Aiisha’Piivaanakkshaa just to throw them into the deepest corners of space. Silcoon would be an indestructible shield in battle training all the defense abilities. <•> •Lugia looks like one of my guardians, Allaa’vaantiirruus, upon home, so they’re definitely a good choice. I’ve loved Lugia upon this earth since forever, so Lugia would probably be my most trained Pokémon, using aeroblast in battle and focusing on swiftness. <•> •Suicune also looks like one of my guardians upon home, Aruu’naakaa’veiiteii’arokk, so of course I’m going to choose Suicune also!.... Suicune would focus on freezing an opponent and attacking from behind. <•> •Charizard/mega Charizard X would probably be a fierce attacker, focusing on defense and powerful attacks. <•> •Pyukumuku is a beautiful bean that can also poison and kill you, so be prepared to get poisoned in battle with this bean. I would also train this bean in defense like Silcoon. <•> •Dratini!!! I absolutely love the trope where a seemingly small and harmless animal actually packs huge punches, so I would train my dratini to absolutely destroy enemies with power and deception.

My HeartGold team is probably my ideal team, if I'm being honest:
Typhlosion - My boy, who has been my favourite since I first played Gold version way back in the day. Very type-focused, and just a bit over-leveled. Also, I want to cuddle up with the 6-foot tall flaming badger.
Gyarados - I specifically have the red gyarados from the Lake of Rage, but shiny isn't required for me. Provides water- and ice-type moves for situations that typhlosion can't solve.
Kadabra - Because the psychic type is ridiculously useful in a range of situations. Also, I have a fondness for Teleport as a utility move outside of battle.
Ampharos - Mostly fills in some of the lacking type match-ups in the rest of the team, and also I can't say no to an electric sheep for the androids to dream of.
Tyranitar - One part tank, one part powerhouse. Dark-type takes care of things that kadabra has trouble with, while rock-type takes care of some of typhlosion's weaknesses. Also big enough for me to ride on, and that makes me happy.
Sandslash - I just love a spiky little ball. Ground-type provides a counter to gyarados' major weakness, and also pairs nicely with tyranitar's sandstorm stuff. Also, I can't say no to a spiky little ball.

Oh I made a new team for myself last week actually, it's pretty edgy tm though lol.
Espeon: Obvious pick lol. Starter and closest partner Pokémon
Charizard/Mega Charizard X: Mega Pokémon and the first Pokémon I ever got in the games here. Still one of my faves and holds a special place in my heart. Probably my main physical attacking powerhouse, as well as transport.
Salazzle: Another one of my faves and it's a paratype of mine because it has a lot of traits in common with my Homura fictotype funnily enough (Fire/Salamander/Lizard + Succubus motifs, even the colours match weirdly enough). Focuses on speed and inflicting status.
Gyarados: Another longtime fave, they've been Old Reliable in a lot of Nuzlockes and teams I've made over the years. Another physical powerhouse that's a bit more versatile move-wise than 'zard and also my Surfer/water transport.
Dragapult: Instantly became my favourite pseudo-legendary line as soon as I saw it's reveal, Ghost/Dragon is one of my favourite type combos.
Ninetales: Another old childhood fave and a cuddle-friend for Espeon. Pairs nicely with Espeon and the Fire types because of its Drought ability.
As you can probably tell, I put 0 thought into balance and only picked my faves lol. I also prefer Hyper Offense when playing and I guess it shines through in this team pick, even though we'd all keel over if someone threw a pebble at us.

If I was in the pokemon 'verse I wouldn't be a trainer. Id have at least 2 pokemon, a ditto and an espeon.
The espeon would be a service pokemon, pre-trained. I've already named this espeon Edwin.
The ditto is named Ziggy. I figure I threw a pokeball at what I thought was a zigzagoon for a pet and it turned out to be a ditto. Like the Meowth who used all its/his EVs to learn to speak ... English/Japanese/Human? Ziggy used up its EVs to be really good at shapeshifting but would be terrible in battles. Ziggy's most common forms include: small zigzagoon or vulpix to sit in my lap and be pet, a slightly larger reverse girafarig to carry me*, a hat, something that floats (maybe magnemite?) and at least 2 flying forms, a pidgey and something big enough to carry me. *
I love pokemon and the pokemon world seems like it would be great to live in.
edit: added some old drawings edit2: sorry if the images are giant in all my posts I have no idea why or how to fix it... edit3: if anyone is wondering what "reverse girafarig" means this is the beta girafarig sprite:

Ooh, pokemon teams! I think if I were to have a team I'd want it to be something along the lines of this.
Scolipede. My gosh, I love Scolipede. If I were to choose any pokemon that isn't a starter to be my partner, I'd choose this giant bug-horse without hesitation. I love pokemon with high speed and high damage, and I kinda just think it's neat.
Luxray. Same deal as scolipede really, Luxray is just one of my favorite pokemon. The whole shinx like is real high up there.
Falinks. My team feels incomplete without the silly little 'No Retreat, Black belt boosted close combat' strategy I came up with spontaneously while playing Sword. It's super beatable but I'm attached to it and to Falinks in general, so...
Ninetales. Specifically a shiny one if I can help it. Once I received a random shiny ninetales named 'Kitsune' from ORAS wonder trade. She was super low level, but I loved her, and raised her up to level 70-ish with the rest of my team. I want her back, haha.
Reshiram. OP much? But genuinely, I feel like if I were to have any legendary on my team, it'd be Reshiram. Its specific focus on truth and nature feel like they'd work well, as those are two things I value greatly and try to maintain in my own life. Also, Pokemon Black was the first pokemon game I got genuinely invested in, so I think it's fitting.
Decidueye. My favorite starter. I don't think I've played a file of S/M or USUM without picking it since the first time I touched the Sun cartridge. It's got good coverage, and it overall just a neat pokemon. I like its design.
A mage that protects the smiles of everyone... That's my goal. Lemres- Fictionkin - Otherhearted - Fictionflicker Kin Blog- wayward-comet
The first of these first three - which I'd lovingly refer to as my gym team. Ghost type Silvally is my favorite type...but if I were a gym leader, I'd be a rock type trainer. It may be a cop out to have a type changing pokemon as an ace... But I just couldn't leave out my all time fave.
Archeops - Shiny
Fossil pokemon are the best. Maybe it's just the lifelong love and paleontology and wanting to make a job out of fossil prep... But. Love them fossils. Though, Universal love aside, Archeops has always been my fave of the lot.
Lycanroc - Dusk
Rock dog is just cool. I also have a Dusk Lycanroc character to go with a Silvally one...so I just can't separate the species.
Gallade - Shiny (Mega)
And these second three are just the old faves. Mega Gallade, the shiny especially, Is just my pokemon manifestation of my love for Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar books. Knightly aesthetic and blue and white color palette? Sign me up.
Pidgeot - Shiny
The first shiny I ever randomly found, all the way back in Fire Red. That golden bird will always have a special place in my heart, as a result.
Houndoom
The first pokemon I can remember being my favorite. When I was a tiny kid, I had a foil Dark Houndoom card that I slept with in my pillowcase, because I thought he'd keep the bad dreams away. To this day, I'm still devestated that it accidentally got sent through the wash one day.

I am chronically bad at making teams but if I could grab all my favorite pokemon
Ninetales - my favorite pokemon of all times, I can't not have it in my team.
Hydreigon - I've been in love with this one since it was released. Pretty decent attack, which is good considering my entire pokemon strategy is "hit hard".
Swellow - unusual pick, but I'm attached to this bird. Long story short, the first pokemon game I played was Sapphire and I didn't really know what strategy was, I just knew that I liked Swellow and completed all of the game using Swellow as my main pokemon.
Aggron - my tank of choice. Sturdy, and good at dealing with Fairy type which is what always gives me the most problems in game.
Haunter - I just love Haunter a lot.
Froslass - such an aesthetically pleasing pokemon, and Ice/Ghost is a wonderful type combination for me.
Have I put proper thought into making a balanced team? No. I just think these pokemon are neat. And they hit hard. Also I stuck to non-legendaries but Giratina is my favorite legendary and I'd be totally down to put it in my team too.
ohohoh let me play around with this So i'm gonna build my team more on the daydreams i've had of pokemons in real life, and which ones i'd like as companions, more than a game thing. So for me irl.
Pidgeot Seems like it would be an easy enough bird pokemon to find and train, and it's always been one of my favorites. As a bird therian, I'd adore a bird companion. I know pidgeot can learn fly, so woohoo! Flight urges can finally be sated with a Bird Frend. For some reason I always interepreted pokemons in general as pretty damn intelligent, even for the ones mostly shown as dumb. Probably due to the anime?
Absol Probably would be hella hard to get as my irl self, but i'd adore one. They are my faves, and I feel like having one around would be great for my anxiety ahah. It's reassuring to have a creature that can warn you of incoming danger, and therefore tell when there's no danger. Plus Big Cat Scary.
Scyther One of my fave insect pokemon, and we have a lot of praying mantises where I live so always thought it'd be reasonably easy for me to find one.
Noivern Bat dragon!!! I absolutely love Noivern, and once again, a flying type bc of my theriotypes. It just feels like a great pokemon and i'd love to be pals with one.
Unfezant A bird once again. Fun fact, bulbapedia says there is roadrunner inspo in their design! I like the male form best, although both are great, and find it a really underrated pokemon.
Grovyle There needs to be a starter in there somewhere. Why a grovyle and not a sceptile? Always found Grovyle cooler. It's my fave of all starters, and I'd just vibe with having one they seem rather chill.
I really like ghost and grass types, so I'm just going to list my favorites without worrying about type coverage haha!
I always choose grass-type starter pokemon, and Decidueye is my favorite grass-type starter.
Sableye! I love this little guy. Would definitely be my partner pokemon, like Ash's pikachu.
My favorite fairy type by far! He looks like a little mushroom alien!
I actually haven't played Sw/Sh but I love Corviknight.
Not the most useful pokemon in battle, but it's my favorite bug-type of the game & recently I've been thinking about putting it on a team in honor of brood X!
I really just like ghost & grass types a lot haha!
All of my pokemon are based on my own personal identifications and associations, not type-balance or other traits relevant to pokemon battling.
Rockruff: The "Me" pokemon. Rockruff is a very strong paratype for me, so much so that it made me question a pokemon kintype. This is the pokemon I'd want to be if I could, and the one I'd want as my constant companion partner if I couldn't. If evolved, I'm definitely a day-form type, but really Rockruff is the one for me. Alternatives: None of the dog pokemon really hit my kinfeels as much as rockruff. But in games it's not availble, Poochyena, Growlithe, Yamper and Houndoom are acceptable.
Gogoat: I have a strong internal preference for the Grass type aesthetically, and Gogoat taps into whatever internally gives me hoof shifts. It's a good stand in for my goat-faun-kith-kin feelings soup. Also the Gogoat-riding option in Pokemon X and Y gave me such intense envy and desire. Alternatives: Deerling, especially spring form. Sky-forme Shaymin.
Galvantula: The joltik line is what most fit me when the Daemon Forum had a thread on Pokemon forms. My dae, Lorian, has really taken to it as a form. I love the colors and the sofy fuzziness. Aesthetically, I like giant spider pokemon because they remind me of Spider Riders, a show that was objectively terrible, but for which I enjoyed the setting/premise and still love imagining a better version in my head. Alternatives: Ariados
Bayleef: Another Grass-aesthetic Pokemon. I recall seeing a scene of Bayleef in the Pokemon anime as a young child that just...stuck with me. Meganium definiftely meets that soft pink-and-green scheme that I really love. If I have to pick a starter, Chikorita is definitely near the top of the list. I also am Chikorita in Pokemon Mystery dungeon, making it another "me" representative in a faceclaim way. A good potato. Alternatives: Leafeon, Hoppip, Snivy, Cherrim
Aegislash: I wanted something to represent my Paladin identity and idea of Knighthood. Of the options I considered (see alternatives) Aegislash felt the most right. I know I wouldn't weild Aegislash like a sword and sheild, but I like that general idea or association. Despite being a ghost type it feels less dark than Corviknight (which, admittedly, has the benefit of wings/flying/being a bird), and less silly than SirFetch'd. Alternatives: Corvinight, SirFetch'd, Escavalier, Failinks, Pawniard
Lucario: Waaaay back as a small child, Lucario is the first pokemon I remember ever distinctly noticing and attaching to. I found it very cool. There was also a sense of relatability that I can now, in hidsight, recognize as probably early smatterings of that canine-me intternal identification. Nowawdays my kintype can be manifested more directly through Rockruff. But Lucario still carries a nostalgic vibe, and also feels like something I can connect to my identity as a furry in general. Alternatives: Gallade, Absol
Honorable Mentions: Tepig- Other possible starter. Despite my grass aesthetic, I almost always pick fire starters, and I'm a firebender in Avatar terms. Pigs are a favorite animal from childhood, as I self-identified with then via as my Zodiac sign, and being a messy kid. Spoink- Another pig, psychic (which is usually linked to pshycic powers but also intellectualism and thought). The "bounce to live" is relatable as a anxious person with producitivity issues and difficulty taking breaks. Ribombee- Fairy/Spring aesthetic, love of bees (especially as a Deamon form). Shinx- just easthetically plesasing, honestly. Pachirisu- same as Shinx, just weel-designed, cute and pleasant.
Honestly I'd probably have to go with the team I used for Sword, my first Pokemon game. Though I'd replace two of them with my favorites that weren't in the game (at the time at least).

my team would end up looking something like this. yeah, it's heavily biased towards alolan pokemon but like. some of my strongest memories are of my time in alola, so i guess it only makes sense that i'd be partially drawn to alolan pokemon
i've always been super drawn to steel types, and for some reason, bipedal Big Boys. none of this has much to do with any of my kintypes (though steven's given me Feelings ever since i first played sapphire), i just like them; barring aegislash who's representative of my love for swords and blacksmithing. aggron's my favorite pokemon, nidoking and tyranitar are close to my heart, scizor's cool, and i love skarmory's design.
ryan / sif . 21 . any prns . mst wolfdog + sif dark souls.
