Simple question what have you been watching lately?
I just finished the new Pokémon series. I really don't like the new Pokémon games or anime. They make it way too simple for kids to catch rare Pokémon, not to mention Goh caught a lot of rare bug Pokémon like Syther with absolutely no effort
I’ve been watching Gargoyles — which is amazing so far! — and DuckTales — which is also great, but the characterisation of Louie (green duck) is ..... confusing :0c
In the original cartoon they’re all pretty similar, aren’t they? :0c
But then in Quack Pack, now teenagers, they gave them all wonderfully unique designs within the confines of Triplet Sameness, and they had really unique personalities.
In Quack Pack, Louie now wears a green tank top/singlet/sleeveless top with a backwards cap, and iirc has an expectedly chill/laidback personality —
— in the DuckTales reboot, Louie follows a similar but modern equivalent aesthetic, with a casual hoodie .......... except his personality now revolves around Money Money Money, ~Financial Desire~ etc. and it’s........... Bizarre™️ and seems very at-odds with his history, short as it may be....
I understand the desire to make the kids As Unique As Possible but I just don’t understand this specific choice they made, especially considering, in my own personal opinion at least nXn;;, it would have made more sense for Dewey (blue duck) who has — in Quack Pack — a whole episode about an existential crisis re: his place among his siblings which would have dove-tailed nicely into a panicked latching onto of accumulating wealth as His Thing and something which would provide opportunity to explore himself and expand his world.
It’s still a highly enjoyable series and I love Webby and the fascinating plot line so far for Lena(?) and I absolutely would recommend it, but every single time Louie’s bizarre Business Like fixation on accumulation of money enters a scene I find myself completely thrown by how out of character it seems from my perspective.
I’ve been watching Gargoyles — which is amazing so far!
I recently watched Gargoyles for the first time and loved it! Fox is a therian, prove me wrong . Have been in the weeds trying to decide on a new show. Maybe when the school quarter is ovewr in two weeks
Got a few shows on the backburner but right now I've mostly been watching Yu Yu Hakusho, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and my Cowboy Bebop rewatch. Recently finished Shadow and Bone the other day, which was pretty fun, although as Kaz I've gotta say they absolutely butchered the guy's character.
My partner and I just finished watching Kemono Jihen, which I loved. It gave me some really great nonhuman feels, and I loved the prominent found family themes.

I've been watching the Twilight Zone again, after talking about it a lot lately. It helps me feel more normal, in a way-as well as just enjoying watching it.

Sounds like the kind of movie that's so bad it's good.
I'm currently rewatching all of Unraveled on Polygon, though completely out of order. It's kind of a comfort series for me.
BDG is a huuuuuge favourite of both me and my wife's. have you seen his series Dances Moving? it's not about video games but it is so so incredible and i cry every time i rewatch it tbh

We started watching Yuru Camp / “Laid-Back Camp”, a very cute little anime about camping and cooking....doubly relevant to my interests. There’s something that make me instantly laugh watching little anime girls putting up tents just like mine and using little camp stoves.
I would never have even found this on my own, let alone chosen it, but my brother recommended it and I trust his weeb advice!!

I have! In fact, I love it more than Unraveled. Unraveled is comforting and easy to watch but Dances Moving is an artfully constructed narrative with meaning and emotion. I'm not kidding when I say See the Day is my favorite song.

Oh god, I watched Dances Moving after getting into unraveled and as I started making my way through BDG's other youtube videos. I had no idea it would have a throughline. And it just so happened that I watched it when I was planning to move soon. I was profoundly affected to say the least.
i'll be real, i've binge-watched about five seasons of hell's kitchen so far. there's something else about eating cheap, poorly-made food while judging others for not being at the top of perfection. schadenfreude, maybe?
