Nonhuman Representation in Media?

I think the most popular one I've come across was "Animorphs". Plus, there's also that Creepshow Xmas special called "Shapeshifters Anonymous". 

In a moment of shameless self promotion I'm gonna mention Studio Prey. I'm the editor in chief at this small publishing studio publishing the works of Rebecca Mickley, who is a transgender otherkin author. Our entire staff is otherkin, and all of Becca's work is in one way or another about otherkin, transgender, and transspecies experiences. Her Farthest Star series is without question my favorite series. The fact I was so enamoured of her first book is the reason I came to work for her.

Things that feel very 'this person identifies as nonhuman';
Valka from HTTYD 2(behavior is dragonlike, feels she was 'born different' iirc, happily lives as a dragon and not a human), San from Princess Mononoke (views herself as not human, considers herself a wolf, behaves like a wolf- in particular we vibe with the culturally nonhuman type of nonhumanity she has, it echoes our relationship to our feline identity), also agreeing with animorphs here.

Things that feel very relatable in the nonhuman way but the character doesnt seem to distinguish themselves from humans outright;
Inosuke Hashibira from demon slayer (behaves animalistic because he was raised by boars, doesnt understand human conventions)
Alistair from Dragon Age Origins (claims to have been raised by dogs as to why he is the way he is) He doesnt necessarily really overtly behave like a dog. But we vibe with the interpretation.
N from pokemon also counts here(also of the 'raised by animals' variety, can understand pokemon language and seems to not count himself among humans)
The main character Raul of This is Not A Werewolf Story by Sandra Evans- who is a not-werewolf and is 'sometimes a boy and sometimes a wolf' and is very adamant about this in that narration. We get Vibes.
Any story that involves animal transformation or a character being raised by nonhumans.

Things that allegorically have nonhuman experience vibes;
Danny Phantom - who while identifying as human, experiences being a ghost as well and has to hide this and deal with being a ghost in a human world. This 100% more something people read as a queer allegory, but its also nonhuman in flavor here.
Really any other shapeshifting storyline has potential vibes to squeeze out.

Sorry- maybe we misunderstood - you meant people who are human bodied who are nonhuman or thereian. whoops. we were just excited to talk about media that actually depicts nonhuman sapients doing nonhuman things

Agnes Jurati's arc in the most recent season of Star Trek: Picard could be read as an alterhuman/transhuman transition narrative, which is something I don't think I've seen in anything else (besides, like, James Cameron's Avatar, which is famously kind of meh and didn't really utilize the ideas it presented all that well.) I want to see more media like that, where a character rejecting humanity and becoming something different is presented as the right and best choice for them, and I was so happy to see it there.

Absolutely! These two are big vibes for me as well. I would also say I heavily resonate with the nonhumanity of The Magnus Archives. In general, as Lucifer I tend to be drawn more towards nonhuman characters with a darker theme/"dark side" that nevertheless fully incorporates their inhuman nature.

One of my favorites is from a book series circulating around the main character, Matthew Swift, and starting with the book A Madness of Angels by Kate Griffin (also potentially an interesting median system book series). Matthew is resurrected from death as a plural entity, who right before he died was absorbed into an entity known as "the angels", which are, in this urban fantasy environment, something born from leftover thought and life of humanity poured down phone lines, and are very chaotic, electric, and on occasion wrathful.

My favorite has to be Firekeeper from the Firekeeper Saga series by Jane Lindskold. She's another of the "raised by animals" variety. She was raised by highly intelligent wolves and identifies as a wolf rather than a human.
