Happy Valentines Day! Or Palentines Day, for those celebrating platonic love. How did y'all spend the holiday this Covid season? (Ironic since St. Valentine is the saint of...well, the plague.)
Me and my systemmates are home sick, so we spent it watching Netflix's The House with the polycule and mostly sleeping. Not the most spectacular V-day, but we still managed to message our partners and friends with some groan-worthy Valentine's day puns, so I consider it a success!

Today I learned st Valentine is the saint of the plague...(and apparently beekeepers too? The more you know.)
I bought a bar of chocolate with the intention of delivering platonically along with a paper crane. But someone warned me that, in the culture of the place I now live in, chocolate might be interpreted as a romantic gesture. So naturally I had to abort the mission last minute, and now I have a dessert I can't eat or give anyone (at least without risking romantic misinterpretations), and a newfound affinity for origami.

Oh the House is great! We spent it doing schoolwork and procrastinating on schoolwork. Caved in though and bought a commission from one of our favorite artists (self-love for valentines).

I’ve never heard of Palentines Day! That’s pretty cool. I celebrated by getting my other COVID-19 vaccine and getting my canine son up to date on all his preventatives.

in true lesbian polycule fashion the girlfriend, the wife, and our system ordered sushi and all got on the couch to watch Revolutionary Girl Utena. plugging the PC on the TV was a special kind of hell (confused the wires and cables for other wires and cables more time than id like to admit) but we eventually got it to work and at least we didnt have to look very far to find the show on kimani- i mean, a totally legit anime streaming service. sushi arrived an hour late because the delivery person couldnt find the door, which happens a lot where we live, but was very good ant nice.
despite all of that, it was a really fun night and im glad that our wife is finally getting to see that show since they apparently never watched it before!

Late to this but I spent Valentine's day with my partner making tacos and brownies and drinking! We kinda just listened to pop punk and danced around the kitchen while our food was cooking lol, it was great. We couldn't go out because we were both too busy with our jobs but I'm glad we got to spend some time together.
Also imo Valentine's day is already for platonic love/self care, or at least it should be! Romantic love is great but it's not the only type of love. I used to be really salty every Valentine's because I was single but I think spending it with friends would've been a fantastic idea, or just doing some self care.
