I like Tumblr from certain perspectives. I deeply appreciate the tagging system, and I'd say I use it primarily for archiving fandom art and for socialization.
It's just not built for long-thread discussion, however, and I think that shows in its earlier design with stacking blockquote threads. At least it's not meant for it like forums are.
I also feel like there's slightly less pressure on Tumblr, as opposed to forum posting. Forum posting feels so much more permanent and visible, and the longform format makes me feel like I should handle it with a little more formality. Which isn't bad - just different. They've both got their uses, but websites are ultimately tools; They'll be more or less useful depending on your goals. I'm glad to have this forum and Tumblr both.
I've been on many many forums, primarily for roleplay. I enjoy forums and the forum format; Discord is so instant and it feels temporary, despite not actually being as such (depending on whether or not a server ever gets deleted lol).
My first real online social space was IMDB forums, I see pros and cons to other systems like discord, etc. but in my heart I always want at least one active forum around.
As much as I like social media it is quite nice to have an 'old school' forum again. I feel like there's a lotta pressure to brand yourself on larger social media (and I'm an artist, so I have to maintain a level of professionality on my accounts just in case) so having something reminiscent of the time when the internet was for escaping reality and just chillin online for a bit is good. I'm grateful for sites like twitter and tumblr, but there's a level of appeal in forums that feels kind of lost on most social platforms these days.
i've definitely been missing the good old forum atmosphere these past few years. it's a breath of fresh air to see new ones popping up now and then. i grew up on forums and they feel much homier and more appealing than big social media. (not to say i'm not constantly refreshing twitter lol) still, i hope that some day more people will embrace de-centralized and non-corporate web.
I've also missed old-school forums; I was mainly active on specifically warrior cats RPG forums back in the day haha, ran a couple tiny ones of my own when I was a pre-teen. I never actually got into community forums until I joined the otherkin community. I like how much "quieter" they seem even when they're active simply because they're contained and a little more private than tumblr or even discord. Discord is the closest to forums now, I think, but it is difficult to find old stuff there.

Well hey there! It's always nice to see new faces join in. I'm a bit more familiar with forum era stuff, so having resources like this site come up is pretty exciting to me. Forums can be a learning curve but ultimately they're nice for discussion and resource sharing. Tumblr and twitter can be fun, especially tumblr for the blogging ability, but this provides some more structure.

I know jack about forums. But I've only been around for a few months, and even less time has been devoted to fronting lmfao Discord's been my main haunt and my gal Ventricosus is more of a Tumblr type of person. - Kurtis

I personally like Tumblr but all headmates in here feel differently. I like Tumblr because the art scene feels more casual and because I enjoy things like clowncore/kidcore.
Ironically Tumblr has gotten much better, most of the bad people moved to Twitter during the post-nsfw ban migration. While we have many different accounts on other social medias, there's only one headmate who has a unique profile on Twitter.
Most of us can enjoy forums too! It's especially nice if you can change your post avatar like this one, I wonder if we could leave that as a suggestion for forums we're a part of? It would definitely solve a lot of problems.
A lot of us enjoy more longer discussions and some of us like to ramble, we also get overwhelmed by sites like Discord where the chats go quickly and the discussions are less focused.
No longer using this account, still up for archive. Sorry if posts were awkwardly worded!

Oh man warrior cats RPG, sending me through a memory trip. Remember when that became FeralFront? Hah.
Non-human character roleplay forum to non-human identity forum pipeline.

haven't heard that name since i got the news of it's closing. bittersweet - bitter since i grew up there, sweet since it was a flaming dumpster most of the time.
i'd wager there's definitely something to be said about a non-human roleplay to non-human identity pipeline, though. no one i'm still friends with from that time turned out human. or cis, actually.

You know what you're right. I miss WCRPG at what I think of as its height, before it changed sites and definitely before it became FeralFront.
The most "successful" site I ever ran was a wolf version of warrior cats, we had several active members and it was fun for a little while! Speaking of, since the site for that one still exists check out this blast from the past. Photobucket being awful as par for the course.
