Alright let me get a couple games here
Meeting In The Flesh - monster themed dating sim. You play as a gender-neutral monster, Vil, and can romance three monster dudes (an insectoid monster, a werewolf like creature, and a Lovecraftian creature). It's set in a generally horror world, but despite the very macabre and grotesque setting it's a super wholesome game. There's some gore and body horror, as well as sexual themes, so it's not really for everyone, but I absolutely loved it. It's free on itch.io
Everhood - full title is Everhood: An Ineffable Tale Of The Inexpressible Divine Moments Of Truth. I'm not sure if I'd call it underrated, it's a fairly new game so it hasn't really had a lot of time to get popular. I played it just a while ago and it was amazing. It's an Undertale inspired RPG, although this is what I've heard from reviews since I never played Undertale. You wake up a wooden doll in a strange world and have to get back the arm someone stole from you. It's an absurd game, and has some incredible plot twists as you progress. The battle mechanics are based on rhythm games and the OST is great. As far as drawbacks go, it has a lot of flashing lights and trippy scenes that can be an accessibility issue. Also there's talks of some euthanasia related themes which could be triggering to some. Overall, really worth the money you spend on it imo
I also have a manga rec, which is Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. It received some awards and I think used to be more popular in the past, but I've almost never met anyone who read it. It's a post-apocalyptic slice of life. Basically, the world has changed because of a climate disaster, heavily altering the way people live. The main character is Alpha, a robot who runs a coffee shop, and most of the manga is just small days in her life through the years. It's an incredibly relaxing work to read, it's so peaceful. Also the robots are wlw
