Is anyone else reacting to fireworks exactly like their pets? Im at a friends house and the dogs are alternating from running around trying to find the sound, whineing, and trembling and snuggling. I can hear but not see the fire works from here and its driving me crazy. I keep whining and running around and my bf is trying to get me to stay on the couch and watch a movie but im!! Barkbarkbark
i'm very sensitive to pretty much any sporadic high pitched sound but i'm okay with fireworks if i'm wearing headphones. it dulls the worst of the noise so it's not too startling. without them it's a lot more scary. i have a cat who does pretty well with fireworks, thunder, and similar noises. she's actually less scared than me!
No but I can't stand the fucking things and find them very inconsiderate (especially to people who have PTSD, have sensory issues, have pets, just trying to sleep or enjoy the goddamned quiet of the night, etc). Public displays exist away from residential areas of towns for a reason. People need to stop setting them off privately unless they're in a rural enough area that no one can be bothered.
tl;dr "If you want to see your fireworks and protect birds, too, the best thing to do is attend a commercial display, rather than setting off your own pyrotechnic devices. Commercial fireworks are concentrated in one location, rather than in several locations at once, which is what often happens in neighborhoods. This allows birds to take off and land again in a “safer” location rather than continuing to flee noises coming at them from all directions. In addition, professional displays often take into account the natural environment and any impacts they might have."
Adult What if I just... decide not to be an adult....?

I absolutely despise loud sudden noises (especially if they are accompanied by flashing lights), fireworks included. I do have some very small and mild trauma relating to lightning and thunderstorms, so I guess there's a correlation to that.
I really really dislike fireworks, yeah. they scare me and stress me out pretty bad, haha. If I can be indoors with the windows closed I'm usually okay but annoyed, but fireworks going off within earshot while I'm outside is so bad
ripley's believe it or not made me who i am today ------ oh no a full moon!!! get away before i transform into a horrible monster that just wants treats and tummy rubs!!!
Although I'm usually affected by loud noises, fireworks weirdly don't tend to freak me out. I almost like how it shakes your body. I assume it's because i've only ever had positive experiences with them? My sensitivity tends to also be on other types of noises than loud explosive sounds, more motor noises or complex overlapping sounds, so it may participate in it too.

Dinic: We're kind of split on how fireworks effects us, for me I'm scared of loud noises so I always flinch at least or panic while looking around to see what caused it before I realize. But some of my system also enjoys them so sometimes fireworks will trigger us to switch.

I don't like fireworks. I used to until I got diagnosed with anxiety. without my pills I'm in hel around the holidays. Idk why the US celebrates independence day with fireworks when so many soldiers have PTSD... Not to mention they are a pollutant with all the chemicals and paper (yes I am that person)
