By otherkin/therian comfort games I don’t mean games that are necessarily about being alter human but ones that remind you of your nonhumanity and perhaps in a way let you live out life as that kintype. It could be chess, Minecraft, Risk of Rain, Pac Man, anything!
This comes as a surprise to absolutely no one but Wolf Quest is one that I enjoy a lot.
I’ve played it for basically as long as its existed. Enjoyed every bit of it. Even if the original game was extremely buggy.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (and although this game doesn’t have any of my kintypes, GTA V). In GTA you can unlock animals to use in the Rock Star editor which is technically meant for making videos. But in this editor you can play as normal but as whichever animal you unlocked. You can’t do a whole lot besides run around, making noises and run into people but I find it fun to explore as the different animals.
The same goes for RDR2 but you need to mod the game (as far as I’m aware) to be able to play as any of the animals. Unfortunately this can sometimes bug out the game or the models might act strange but once you get it working it’s a lot of fun. Again though, not a whole lot you can really do but it’s still very enjoyable being able to just run around and explore.
Sky: Children of The Light.
I don’t share any kintypes with any creatures in this game but the ability to fly reminds me of my alicorn self. And the environment feels very homey to me.
I haven’t been able to play this game very much though. But I hear it’s coming to Switch next month! So I’m super excited for that.
The Isle.
Again, I don’t have any kintypes present in this game but I do find it relatable in terms of my kintypes. I love being able to survive out in the wild, fending for myself. It can be really challenging, even frustrating sometimes, it I think that’s what makes it great. I haven’t played this in a few years though so I don’t know how different it is nowadays.
I can’t really think of any other games off the top of my head but I’ll remember to add to this when I think of more
